ATTANA HOTELS & RESORTS PLANTED 1,888 NEW LANDSCAPE TREES IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE OPENING OF THE NEW VILLEA PORT DICKSON

Port Dickson, 1 October 2022 – Attana Hotels & Resorts Sdn Bhd (AHR), the wholly-owned hospitality management company of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), today completed the planting of 1,888 new landscape and shrub trees in conjunction with the reopening of its newly refurbished “Villea Port Dickson” resort.

A total of five Garcinia Subelliptica or commonly known as “Happiness Tree” were planted at the main entrance of the resort to mark the concluding of its tree planting campaign which started in June 2022.

The tree planting ceremony was held together with officiated by Chief Investment Officer, Private & Strategic Investments of PNB Rick Ramli, Group Head, Real Estate of PNB, Mohamad Idros Mosin, and Group Head, Corporate Affairs of PNB Nimmi Kamal. Joining them are Chief Operating Officer of AHR, Ron Hasni Yusoff and Head, Project Management Division of Yayasan Hijau Malaysia Dr. Rafidah Abd Rashid.

According to Ron Hasni, “AHR together with the Sustainability & Social Investments Department of PNB and Yayasan Hijau Malaysia were involved with the selection and planting of various types of the selected landscape and shrub trees. AHR is proud to be doing our small part for the environment try in-line with the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) initiative of our parent company. It also helps enrich the landscape surrounding Villea Port Dickson.”

Some of the trees planted are Eucalyptus deglutia (Rainbow Eucalytus), Terminalia catappa (Ketapang), Tarbenaemontana divaricate (Susun Kelapa), Casuarina equisetifolia (Common Rhu, Rhu Pantai), Ficus lyrate (Benjo Fig), Callistemon Viminalis (Bottle Brush), Schefflera arboricola, (Dwarf Umbrella Tree) and Loropetalum chinense (Chinense Fringe Flower).

AHR is collaborating with in April this year, when PNB launched it Sustainability Framework where it aims to integrate the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices into its operations. . The tree planting initiative which involved an RM100,000 contribution from PNB is part of its ESG aspiration to minimise the impact of human activity on the planet via social investment. It is also to support Malaysia Greening Programme through the “100 million Trees Planting Campaign” under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Villea Port Dickson was chosen as the first property to be planted with a variety of trees and shrubs under this project.

At the tree planting ceremony, Rick Ramli signed a special plaque to mark the occasion while Nimmi Kamal received a certificate of appreciation on behalf of PNB from Yayasan Hijau Malaysia.
