We recognise that sustainable practices are essential for our long-term success and the well-being of the planet and society. Our ESG initiatives are designed to create lasting value, drive positive change, and ensure transparency and accountability across all our hotels and resorts.
This commitment aligns with the vision of our parent company, Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), focusing on three key pillars: Environment, facilitating a transition to a green economy; Social, promoting equity and inclusion; and Governance, advocating sound governance practices. These pillars not only enhance PNB's capacity to generate sustainable returns but also shape our engagements with investee companies, aiming to create comprehensive and sustainable value.
Recognising our responsibility to safeguard the environment for future generations, we have initiated several environmental projects. For instance, we collaborated with UMW Holdings on mangrove tree planting at Villea Port Dickson (VPD) and conducted beach cleanups at Villea Rompin Resort & Golf (VRRG).
These initiatives protect coastal ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, improve water quality, and help communities mitigate erosion and extreme weather impacts near our beach and forest resorts.
To reduce plastic waste and promote sustainability, we have implemented refillable shampoo and soap bottles in hotel rooms and replaced plastic bottles with reusable glass bottles for drinking water in meeting rooms at all our hotels and resorts.
At Perdana Kuala Lumpur City Centre, BacFree drinking water systems have been installed in the kitchenettes from Level 10 to Level 19, ensuring safe and clean drinking water while reducing plastic waste.
In April 2023, we launched Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at Perdana Kota Bharu and are gradually rolling them out across our other properties. This initiative provides convenience for EV drivers visiting our hotels and resorts, supports our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and advances energy independence and sustainability goals.
Beyond environmental efforts, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities we serve through various social responsibility initiatives. These include distributing packed food and organizing events for the less fortunate, particularly during Ramadan.
Recently, in collaboration with PERTIWI, DBKL, and three of our hotels and resorts (Espira Kinrara, Villea Port Dickson, and Villea Morib), we distributed 250 packs of food to those experiencing homelessness in Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur. Perdana Kota Bharu also distributed qurban meat to several asnaf families during Hari Raya Aidiladha.
