Attana Hotels & Resorts Sdn Bhd has undertaken a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at environmental preservation and community engagement as part of its Group initiatives in advocating sustainability.
This initiative, which includes beach cleaning and tree planting activities, took place across several properties, including Perdana Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Perdana Kota Bharu, Espira Kinrara, Villea Port Dickson, Villea Rompin Resort & Golf, Villea Morib, and Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club.
The CSR efforts involved beach clean-ups at three key locations: Senok Beach in Kota Bharu, Blue Lagoon Beach in Port Dickson, and Morib Beach in Banting. These activities, conducted in collaboration with various local authorities and organisations such as Majlis Daerah, SWCorp, UMW, and more, aim to restore the natural beauty of these coastal areas while promoting the importance of keeping shorelines clean and litter-free.
"We believe that taking care of the environment is a shared responsibility and it is something we must all be involved in. Through these initiatives, we aim to make a meaningful impact on the environment while supporting the communities where our hotels and resorts operate,” said Taha Zainal, Group Operations Senior General Manager of Attana Hotels & Resorts.
In alignment with the sustainability goals set by its parent company PNB, which introduced its Sustainability Framework in April 2022, Attana Hotels & Resorts supports PNB’s three core environmental priorities: addressing Climate Change, protecting Nature and Biodiversity, and mitigating Environmental Impact.
Attana has embraced these goals through its Sayang Earth program, promoting community involvement while actively working to preserve and protect the environment. The Sayang Earth initiative embodies Attana’s deep connection to the planet, focusing on four key pillars: Healthy Lifestyle, Repurpose, Recycle & Reduce (3Rs), Save the Planet, and Community Development.
The CSR activities, including beach clean-ups and tree planting, highlight Attana Hotels & Resorts' continued commitment to environmental conservation. These efforts aim to enhance the beauty of Malaysia’s coastal regions while promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about the importance of collective environmental responsibility.
“We are incredibly proud of the collaboration and teamwork demonstrated by our staff and volunteers during these CSR activities. The event fostered unity and a shared sense of purpose among the participants, who not only contributed to environmental conservation but also developed a deeper understanding of its importance,” Taha Zainal added.
This CSR initiative was a collaborative effort involving a total of 245 volunteers across all locations. Beyond the immediate effects of tree planting and beach cleaning, the initiative provided participants with valuable first-hand experience and knowledge that will inspire sustainable practices and positively influence future behaviours.
Attana Hotels & Resorts and all collaborating partners expressed their gratitude to the volunteers for their hard work and dedication. The success of these events highlights the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges, and the organisation looks forward to continuing its efforts to preserve and protect Malaysia’s natural beauty.
